S.W.A.G. Faculty

10CORE S.W.A.G. Faculty are independent contractors, not employees, whose primary responsibilities are to educate and empower youth and adults by teaching 10CORE’s housing literacy curriculum. Ultimately, the Program seeks to empower everyone, across all economic sectors, but particularly the following:

Adults

Juniors/Seniors in High School/Community College

Youth in Foster Care (whose schools are not otherwise participating)

Youth in Other Nonprofits (e.g., Programs like “My Brother’s Keeper Alliance,” President Obama’s program for boys and young men of color)

Youth/Adult Parolees (or individuals coming out of prison who remain under State or Federal jurisdiction); and

Youth/Adult Probationers (or convicted individuals who remain under court supervision)

B.A/J.D. is required. Must be licensed in jurisdiction where 10CORE’s S.W.A.G. course is being taught or in the process of taking the bar examination, having successfully matriculated through an ABA accredited law school. Although a teaching certificate is not required, teaching experience as a former teacher or teaching assistant should be reflected in the resume.

Must demonstrate the ability to use computers and adapt to programs needed to teach and engage virtually and/or In the classroom.

Must be inspired to promote 10CORE’s mission and values.

Must have reliable transportation within close proximity of the school where the S.W.A.G. course is being taught.

The S.W.A.G. curriculum requires a minimum of 60 hours (which includes time needed to teach, train, coordinate field trips, and correspond with teachers, real estate professionals, and law students/teaching assistants who participate in providing a dynamic classroom experience for student CEOs. Actual class time depends upon the format chosen by the school. For the traditional classroom setting, Faculty should be available for 1 hour or one class period for one academic year (September to June).* For summer camps, Faculty should be available for one week or 5 consecutive days.** Faculty will also participate in training programs to discuss the 10CORE S.W.A.G. curriculum to enhance the Program.
